Industrial Machinery Field Service Technician — Winchester, VA
Picture your morning starting in Winchester, VA. You review the day’s service calls, load out the right tools, and head to a customer site where a critical piece of heavy industrial equipment needs attention. By 8 a.m., you’re diagnosing a fault using your mechanical know‑how and precision measuring instruments. Before lunch, you’ve welded a small bracket, replaced a worn component, and verified alignment per the OEM manual. In the afternoon, you’re commissioning an installation at another facility, wrapping up with a thorough safety check aligned to company policies and OSHA requirements.
What your days look like
- Perform on-site welding and fabrication to support repairs and modifications at customer facilities.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy industrial machinery and equipment to minimize downtime.
- Carry out preventive maintenance tasks to keep systems reliable and efficient.
- Install, set up, and commission industrial machines per technical procedures and manuals.
- Use hand and power tools along with precision metrology instruments for accurate work.
- Read and interpret technical documentation, drawings, and machine manuals.
- Travel daily to multiple customer sites to complete service calls.
- Support planned plant shutdowns and respond to emergency breakdowns when needed.
- Work safely at all times and follow company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
Who succeeds in this role
- Experienced with welding and fabrication (highly preferred).
- Strong mechanical aptitude with solid troubleshooting skills.
- Comfortable in physically demanding industrial environments.
- Willing and able to work at heights and in confined spaces when required.
- Capable of lifting 50+ lbs.
- Holds a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and effective working independently in fast-paced settings.
Schedule
This field role follows a variable schedule. Most work occurs Monday through Friday, starting between 6:00–7:00 a.m. and ending between 4:00–6:00 p.m. Occasional Saturday and Sunday work may be required based on workload.
