Overview/Summary:

On-Board Industrial Solutions is seeking an experienced Industrial HVAC / Process Chiller Technician to join our HVAC/R Maintenance Group at a chemical manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and rebuilding the site's industrial process cooling systems as well as all HVAC comfort heating and cooling equipment that supports facility operations.

Primary responsibilities include troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of flooded evaporator process chillers, direct expansion (DX) systems, associated cooling towers, pumps, and related equipment. Due to the large quantity and variety of refrigeration assets on site, candidates must have experience with multiple compressor types, including screw, centrifugal, scroll, and reciprocating compressors, with demonstrated expertise in screw-type chillers.

This is a hands-on maintenance role that extends well beyond routine monitoring, logging, and preventative maintenance activities. Technicians will be expected to perform major mechanical repairs, including equipment tear-downs and rebuilds, while also diagnosing complex system issues. Success in this position requires a strong understanding of refrigeration system design, overall system layouts, electrical distribution, pneumatic systems, DDC controls, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).

Many of the systems are located outdoors, requiring frequent work at ground level and on rooftops in varying weather conditions. Candidates must be comfortable safely troubleshooting and working with electrical systems operating at 460 volts and above.

The position also participates in an on-call rotation schedule, with a minimum of four hours of overtime pay provided for call-ins.

Note: This is a non-union position.
