Summary
The purpose of the position is to supply the existing facilities with the skills and craftsmanship necessary to maintain the structural integrity of the buildings including the infrastructures, equipment, and building grounds.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Understand and execute requests from the departments work order system;
Prepare clear and comprehensive reports detailing the actions conducted to close work orders;
Support and take direction from the Facilities Technician II and/or Senior Facilities Tech to ensure the satisfactory completion of complex installations and repairs;
Operate mobile equipment (Forklifts, High Lifts, etc.);
Perform drywall, stucco, painting and minor cosmetic repairs;
Conduct basic carpentry, mechanical, plumbing and electrical repairs;
Read and interpret building drawings, electrical schematics, and other technical documents related to facility maintenance;
Repair windows, doors, door locks and cabinet locks;
Perform furniture moves as needed, and assist in the setting up and breaking down of furniture for meetings and assembly functions;
Perform disassembly, relocation, and assembly of modular furniture systems;
Maintain HVAC system, compressors, and other building systems;
Maintain building grounds, fences, and gates;
Perform other such duties as may be required.

Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures reporting all unsafe activities to Management and/or Human Resources.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent and at least three (3) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and advanced database knowledge of MPR, ERP and BOM processes.

A Matrix has been established to assist with professional development within the Facilities Department.
The Facilities Technician I will qualify to start working on completing the tasks and timelines on the Matrix after one full calendar year on the present position. For additional information see the job description for Facilities Technician II.
It is the responsibility of the Facilities Technician I to request to start working on the Matrix towards becoming a Facilities Technician II and to approach the Facilities Supervisor to evaluate progress on any given task as soon as its completed.
