Job Responsibilities:

JOB FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for overseeing plant conveyance, material flow, and layout optimization, as well as managing supplier packaging and freight efficiency. Focuses on enhancing manufacturing processes to boost operational productivity and ensure the timely delivery of materials across the organization. Analyzes production workflows, implements lean manufacturing principles, and collaborates across departments to achieve quality and delivery objectives within a just-in-time (JIT) environment. Additionally, responsible for planning, designing, and managing warehouse layouts to ensure efficient storage of all parts. Supports part planning, material handling process design, value stream mapping, and conducts studies to foster continuous improvement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field or another educational equivalent. 2-5 years or proven prior experience, preferably in the areas of high-volume assembly and sequencing. Candidates with manufacturing, warehousing, or supply chain logistics background will be considered; experience within automotive and/or seating industry preferred. Or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience. A high level of analytical ability is required to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be proficient with computer software applications in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project add AutoCAD software. Familiar with Lean manufacturing concepts (Kanban, One-Piece-Flow, Kaizen, Theory of Constraints, 5S, etc.). Must be self-motivated, ability to work with minimal supervision.

ADDITIONAL PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with automatic material handling equipment (i.e. AGV).
  • Experience with SAP ERP system.
  • Experience in an automotive TS/IATF environment.
  • Experience with CAD, process simulation, data analysis tools, material handling system design, and warehouse planning
  • Proven project and time management ability.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES (not all inclusive):

Process Development:

  • Analyze and improve manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure quality performance.
  • Conduct value stream mapping (VSM) to analyze current state processes and identify waste or bottlenecks, then develop future state plans for process improvement.
  • Uses VSM and time studies to identify opportunities for process optimization and waste reduction.

Packaging:

  • Responsible for designing dunnage, conveyance equipment, and line-side racking systems.
  • Responsible for maintaining all supplier Packaging Approval Data Sheet (PADS) forms and coordinating any packaging trials.

Process Changes:

  • Responsible for managing all Product Change Notice (PCN) updates related to process modifications, material flow, packaging, and presentation. Attends all change control meetings to ensure proper implementation and communication.
  • Assist in training staff on new processes, part planning strategies, warehouse layouts, material handling procedures, and value stream mapping concepts.

General:

  • Administers and ensures compliance with the Quality, Environmental, and Material Management System requirements as outlined in the policy manuals.
