Tesla is seeking a skilled Industrial Engineer with hands-on experience in manufacturing environments focused on castings, trimming, CNC machining, and related processes to lead engineering initiatives for operations at the Lathrop site. The team is responsible for sustaining, ramping, and improving critical new product lines through collaboration with production, engineering, supply chain, and facilities teams, ensuring operational excellence and meeting Tesla's objectives.
Identify, quantify, compare, and execute production process improvements to drive safety and ergonomics, quality (first pass yield), availability (uptime), performance (cycle time variability), capital utilization, and demand attainment
Use predetermined time standard methods to analyze and optimize current and future planned assembly processes
Create and implement tools to audit efficiency and identify cost reduction opportunities
Create, benchmark, and maintain headcount plans
Calculate, propose, and implement new methods and processes for existing production systems
Educate and engage cross-functional teams in importance of continuous improvement
Manage and communicate improvement opportunities and implementation plans to all relevant levels and functions in the factory
2+ years of industrial, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering experience
Experience as an Industrial Engineer in a manufacturing shop environment, specifically with castings (e.g., die casting, sand casting), trimming processes, CNC machining, and similar operations (e.g., milling, turning, grinding) is preferred
Experience with industry-standard problem-solving methodologies (A3, ATS, UPS), preventive and autonomous maintenance concepts, time/motion study analysis (MODAPTS preferred), continuous improvement (6 sigma techniques, lean manufacturing), and change management
Experience with any/all of the following: simulation modeling software (FlexSim preferred), data visualization software (Tableau, Splunk), design software (SolidWorks, CATIA), programming languages (SQL, Python, MATLAB, VBA)
Outstanding critical thinking and communication skills, with a high level of emotional intelligence, autonomy, and servant leadership
Industrial cost control/reporting/analysis experience in high volume manufacturing environments
Innate ability to understand new processes and systems quickly, with high attention to detail

Expected Compensation
$72,000 - $248,400/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
