Step into a day on our maintenance team

When the first shift fires up mixers and proofers, you’re already ahead of the curve—reviewing CMMS work orders, prioritizing preventative tasks, and coordinating with production on changeovers. By mid-morning, you’ve tuned a conveyor, calibrated a slicer, and traced a stubborn electrical fault back to a sensor input on a PLC. After lunch, you swap a pump seal, troubleshoot a hot zone on an oven, and bring HVAC and plumbing vendors up to speed on scheduled facility work. Before wrapping up, you document every action, close out inventory moves in the CMMS, and align with leadership on reliability improvements for tomorrow.

What you’ll take on

  • Execute complex maintenance and repair on bakery production assets: mixers, ovens, proofers, conveyors, slicers, and automated packaging systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical (including PLC-related), pneumatic, and hydraulic issues—both acute failures and chronic root causes.
  • Own and advance preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Troubleshoot facility infrastructure, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical distribution.
  • Respond rapidly to breakdowns and implement lasting corrective actions.
  • Assist with installation, commissioning, and calibration of new machines and entire production lines.
  • Record work orders, parts usage, and findings accurately in a CMMS; sustain clean, precise maintenance documentation.
  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA, GMP, HACCP, and sanitation expectations in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Partner with production and leadership teams to boost equipment reliability, throughput, and safety.
  • Coach and support junior maintenance personnel.
  • Coordinate external vendors/contractors for specialized service and repairs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational certification strongly preferred.
  • 5–7 years of maintenance experience within bakery, food manufacturing, or industrial production settings.
  • Working knowledge of bakery machinery and automated production systems preferred.
  • Advanced grasp of mechanical, electrical (including PLCs), pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Experience using CMMS platforms for planning and tracking work.
  • Familiarity with GMP and HACCP food safety standards.

Skills & Competencies

  • Expert troubleshooting and diagnostics under time pressure.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking.
  • Self-directed with the ability to lead maintenance initiatives.
  • Clear communicator and collaborative teammate.
  • Meticulous attention to safety, quality, and detail.
  • Skilled at prioritizing in a fast-moving production environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods.
  • Work comfortably near ovens (heat), in noisy areas, and around active food production equipment.

You should be proficient in:

  • Electrical Troubleshooting
  • Boiler Troubleshooting
  • Maintenance and Repair Skills
  • Industrial Electrical Experience
  • Mechanical Systems & Component Repair

Machines & technologies you’ll use:

  • Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)
