About the Role

Picture a typical week: you step onto a production floor, greet a maintenance lead, open a panel to trace a fault through an Allen‑Bradley controller, verify VFD parameters, realign a strapping head, and bring a critical line back to full speed. The next day, you commission a new unit—mechanical alignment, electrical verification, safety checks, and functional testing—then document every step and share recommendations for upgrades that will prevent downtime. When calls slow down, you proactively drop in at nearby customer facilities to assess wear components, evaluate reliability risks, and suggest parts or service packages. That blend of hands-on problem solving and consultative support is your wheelhouse.

What You'll Do

  • Install, commission, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize industrial machinery and automation systems at customer sites across North America.
  • Service Itipack machinery and strapping head units—mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electromechanical.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals with confidence.
  • Diagnose and support PLC/HMI/VFD controls (Allen‑Bradley and Siemens): perform I/O checks, fault analysis, parameter verification, and basic program-level diagnostics.
  • Restore equipment to OEM specifications by repairing or replacing components and assemblies.
  • Use structured root-cause methodologies to identify and eliminate sources of failure.
  • Conduct unscheduled, proactive site visits to evaluate machine condition and reliability.
  • Recommend parts, upgrades, and corrective actions; provide technical input for parts sales, service proposals, and equipment enhancements.
  • Maintain rigorous safety practices: electrical safety, lockout/tagout, and customer site protocols.
  • Document service activities comprehensively: service reports, failure analyses, and parts usage.
  • Stay current with automation technologies, industrial controls standards, and product updates.

Your Background

  • Diploma or degree in electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, or automation discipline.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial machinery; strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Intermediate knowledge of schematics, control panels, and industrial wiring practices.
  • Working knowledge of Allen‑Bradley and Siemens PLC platforms, HMIs, and VFDs.
  • Proven troubleshooting across sensors, motors, drives, safety circuits, and controls.
  • Analytical, methodical problem-solver who thrives independently in the field.
  • Comfortable with variable schedules and long days—no fixed start/end times.
  • Clear, thorough communicator with excellent technical documentation skills.
