Industrial Automation Controls Technician

Step into a high-impact role with a global industrial manufacturer in Lafayette, IN. Your mission: keep complex automated equipment running at peak performance so production never misses a beat.

Day in the Life

You arrive on the floor and start with a quick review of the overnight maintenance logs. A line is flagging intermittent faults on an Allen‑Bradley PLC—within minutes you’re deep into ladder logic, isolating a sensor input issue. Later, you’ll swap a VFD, verify 480VAC power distribution, and coach an operator on safe startup procedures. Between equipment checks, you proactively inspect pneumatics, hydraulics, and controls, logging precise notes to keep the team aligned and the line efficient.

What You’ll Handle

  • Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues across production assets
  • Troubleshoot and service PLCs, VFDs, and HMIs (Allen‑Bradley experience preferred)
  • Safely work with 480VAC, 120VAC, and 24VDC power and control circuits
  • Install new control cabinets and build/modify electrical circuits to spec
  • Execute preventive maintenance and support equipment startups and controlled shutdowns
  • Partner with operators on safe operating procedures and equipment requirements
  • Document maintenance actions, performance data, and parts usage with accuracy
  • Share knowledge by training and assisting fellow maintenance team members

What You Bring

  • Two-year technical degree or an equivalent accredited apprenticeship in a related field
  • 3–5 years of electrical maintenance experience in industrial/manufacturing settings
  • Hands-on proficiency with PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and control systems
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and a methodical troubleshooting approach
  • Ability to read schematics, interpret blueprints, and use diagnostic tools (multimeter, megger, infrared scanner, etc.)
  • Comfort working at heights and in a fast-moving production environment
  • Clear communication, sound judgment, and decisive problem-solving

Perks & Benefits

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Stable, safety-first manufacturing environment
  • Access to cutting-edge automation technology
