NBAPOSN Title Program Coord II Working Title Indigenous Excellence and Engagement Coordinator Brief Position Overview

The Indigenous Excellence and Engagement Coordinator supports Native student recruitment, retention, persistence, and graduation through direct student support, culturally responsive programming, community partnerships, and operational coordination. This position serves as a primary resource for Native students by providing case management, connecting students to campus resources, and coordinating initiatives that promote student success.

The Indigenous Excellence and Engagement Coordinator collaborates with campus departments, tribal nations, tribal colleges, K-12 schools, and community organizations to strengthen educational pathways and student support systems. The position also oversees cultural programming, assists with grant-funded initiatives, supports budget operations, coordinates communications and outreach efforts, and supervises student workers. The Indigenous Excellence and Engagement Coordinator serves as the lead coordinator for the annual MSUB Powwow and other major Native American Achievement Center events.

Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Education Required:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Education, Student Affairs, Native American Studies, Social Work, Public Administration, Human Services, or a related field.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in higher education, K-12 education, student services, community outreach, Native American programs, or a related field.
  • Experience working with students, tribal communities, or culturally responsive programs.
  • Experience coordinating projects, events, outreach activities, or administrative operations.

Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Education Preferred:

  • Experience or training related to Indigenous education, cultural programming, student success, or community engagement.

Experience Preferred:

  • Experience supporting student recruitment, retention, advising, or student success initiatives.
  • Experience planning cultural events, conferences, powwows, or community programs.
  • Experience managing budgets, purchasing processes, invoices, or financial tracking.
  • Experience supervising student workers, interns, or volunteers.
