Description

Johnston County Department of Social Services has an immediate opening for an Income Maintenance Crisis Supervisor. The Income Maintenance Supervisor provides supervision, training, support, and leadership to Childcare Subsidy, Energy and NEMT and reports to the Economic Services Program Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The primary purpose of the Income Maintenance Supervisor position is to guide and direct Income Maintenance Case Worker II staff in Childcare Subsidy, CIP, LIEAP and NEMT

  • This position must have thorough knowledge of the NC FAST system, policy knowledge of either Childcare, Energy and/or NEMT.

  • The position involves supervising a team of income maintenance Case workers and support staff engaged in eligibility determination and case management for Child Care Subsidy, Energy and NEMT programs.

  • This position assigns and monitors workloads to ensure equitable distribution and timely processing of applications, renewals, and changes.

  • This position must review and monitor case accuracy, timeliness, and documentation to maintain program integrity.

  • This position will coordinate cross- program activities and provide technical assistance to staff.

  • Analyze reports and performance metrics to monitor caseload trends and program performance.

  • Respond to client complaints, appeals and inquiries with professionalism and confidentiality.

  • Other duties assigned include Shelter or Emergency Management duties during a disaster.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Childcare, Energy or NEMT.

  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, policies and eligibility systems.

  • Knowledge of the agencys organizational rules, policies, and procedures.

  • Knowledge of basic supervisory and management skills.

  • Strong leadership, coaching and conflict-resolution skills.

  • General understanding of the budget and planning process skills.

  • Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills.

  • Ability to recognize, collect, and evaluate evidence to support actions.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, community agencies, law enforcement agencies to obtain or present pertinent data,

  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, and the general public.

  • Ability to present information orally or in written form.

Desired Education and Experience

Three years of experience as a caseworker or investigator in an income maintenance program, preferably with one year of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Must have problem-solving and interpersonal skills sufficient to interact with diverse groups of people, excellent computer skills, organizational skills, and written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with three years of experience in social services plus two years' supervisory experience in eligibility determination; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
