Requirements / Qualifications

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE Any combination equivalent to: Graduation from secondary school or equivalent GED and one (1) year experience working with elementary school-age children in an organized educational, health, childcare, or other structured setting. Experience with children requiring a specialized learning environment is desirable. Incumbents must meet requirements specified under Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Special Qualifications include: - Completed at least two (2) years of study at an institution of higher education OR - Met (pass) a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics (Please review the job description for more information) EXAMINATION PROCEDURES This is a Promotional and Open recruitment to establish an eligibility list and fill vacancies. To qualify to be placed on an eligibility list, a candidate must obtain a passing score on each test part of the examination process. The eligibility list will be used to fill permanent vacancies which may occur during the life of the eligibility list. In a promotional and open recruitment, the promotional list shall take precedence. When the promotional list contains fewer than three eligible and willing employees, certification of additional ranks shall then be made from the open list. Applicants who may need reasonable accommodation for interviewing or testing must notify the Personnel Department at (562) 690-2321, three (3) business days prior to the testing date. Date of Examination Candidates who are among the most qualified shall be notified via email or telephone of the time, date, and place of the examination(s).
