Great opportunity offering the best of both worlds! Looking for a career that blends hands-on technical work, customer interaction, and the chance to live in a quieter rural community-without giving up access to a major Iowa city? This role offers exactly that.

Our client is a nationally recognized leader in the 3D printing services industry, known for exceptional customer support and a collaborative, business‑casual work environment. As an In‑House Applications Engineer & Technician, you'll be at the heart of a growing technical team supporting production, sales, and customer applications across a range of advanced additive manufacturing technologies.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with industrial equipment, solving real-world technical challenges, and helping customers succeed-while living in a community that offers space, affordability, and quality of life, just a short drive from a major metro hub in Iowa.

What You'll Do

You'll bring hands-on expertise to both the shop floor and customer-facing projects, including:

  • Performing machine repairs, technical troubleshooting, and on-site support.
  • Leading technical projects, performing software updates, and completing pre-shipment inspections.
  • Conducting material development work, testing, and validation on in-house additive systems.
  • Supporting sales through product demonstrations and technical insights for customer applications.
  • Joining sales calls when needed to review application details and lead benchmarking activities.
  • Developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and improving support processes.
  • Assisting with order fulfillment, shipment prep, and shop operations when required.

What It Takes to Succeed

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Technology, or related field -or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 3+ years in a technical, applications engineering, field service, or machinery-support role.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn new equipment quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort interacting with customers and internal teams.
  • Ability to interpret diagrams, manuals, schematics, and other technical resources.
  • Creative problem-solving mindset and the confidence to propose unique customer solutions.
  • Prior experience in additive manufacturing, CAD tools, or software like SolidWorks or Magics is a plus.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • A chance to live and work in a rural Iowa community with easy access to a major metropolitan area-the best of both worlds.
  • A relaxed, supportive workplace where your technical expertise truly makes an impact.
  • A role that blends hands-on engineering, customer-facing application work, and meaningful influence on product and process improvements.
  • Opportunities to grow your skills in cutting-edge additive manufacturing technologies.
  • Standard hours of 8am to 5pm
  • Three choices for healthcare
  • In the office and at home 80%-90% of the time
  • Minimal travel to clients for training (est. 1 time per month)
