Purpose of the PositionThis position is assigned to work within the finance department as an accountant to correct old, open projects to the point of having those projects closed out in PeopleSoft and Euna (Financial & Grants software). These tasks will involve a large amount of audit work, which will lead to the need to create journal entries and/or revenue transactions. The role requires the ability to work independently while knowing when to ask questions and coordinate transactions with other teams within finance.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesReconcile projectsAudit project activities from the past to correct the activities by projectProcess journal entries as neededRequest assigned projects to be closed upon completionEngage in comprehensive reviews of financial dataProcess revenue transactions within PeopleSoft as neededReview and understand Notice of Awards and Grant Requirements as they relate to the reconciliation of grants/projectsJob RequirementsThorough knowledge and the ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting PrinciplesThorough knowledge and the ability to apply Generally Accepted Audit Standards and related theoriesThorough knowledge of Governmental AccountingBroad knowledge of federal, state and agency budgeting and fiscal policies and proceduresExtensive knowledge of agency organization and functionAbility to communicate effectively orally and in writing with all levels of the organizationAbility to work under pressure and to practice diplomacy, tact, and courtesyAbility to work independentlyAbility to problem‑solve and research and recommend remedies to complex issuesAbility to develop and follow effective proceduresExperience RequiredBachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or compensatory experience working in the accounting field2-4 years of accounting/auditing experienceState government accounting experience is preferred, and will be very helpful#J-18808-Ljbffr
