Job Description
As an Imaging Specialist IV in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), where you'll provide advanced magnetic resonance imaging services that support exceptional patient care across the East Hawaii Region. In this role, you'll independently perform complex MRI examinations, ensure patient safety, maintain quality standards, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team while helping advance imaging services through quality improvement and cross-training initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced MRI examinations using established protocols while ensuring patient safety, image quality, and compliance with physician orders and departmental standards.
- Screen patients for MRI safety, administer contrast media as ordered, monitor for adverse reactions, and provide compassionate care to patients across all age groups.
- Review imaging orders and patient history, accurately document procedures in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and PACS, and ensure timely image transfer for interpretation.
- Maintain MRI equipment, perform quality assurance activities, troubleshoot equipment issues, monitor inventory, and support a safe, efficient imaging environment.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and optimize workflow throughout the Imaging Department.
- Cross-train and provide support in other imaging modalities, maintain required competencies, and participate in department quality improvement, accreditation, and continuing education activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a program recognized by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Relevant professional experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
- One and one-half (1½) years of progressively responsible imaging technologist experience.
- One (1) year of specialized Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) experience performing diagnostic MRI procedures independently.
- Current ARRT (MR) certification or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within six (6) months of employment.
- Current State of Hawaii radiologic imaging license is highly desirable.
Desired Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of MRI safety standards, imaging protocols, anatomy, physiology, and cross-sectional imaging techniques.
- Experience administering MRI contrast media and monitoring patients during imaging procedures.
- Excellent critical thinking, communication, and patient care skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Pre-Employment Health Requirements
