East Hawaii Health Cancer Center has an exciting opportunity for a Radiation Therapist to work in our Radiation Oncology (Oncology Acute) department. East Hawaii Health Cancer Center is a division of Hawaii Health Systems Corporation’s East Hawaii Region, which includes Hilo Benioff Medical Center, Ka’u Hospital and Honoka'a Hospital.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Radiation Therapist (Imaging Specialist) is responsible for independently performing a variety of radiation therapy treatments, simulations, treatment planning and fabrication of specialized treatment aide in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the physician. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age specific needs and to provide the care needed by patients of all ages.

Radiation Therapists are an extremely important part of the treatment plan. They are experts in setting the patient up every day for treatment. At East Hawaii Health Cancer Center, we have quality checks to ensure the radiation treatment is delivered safely and correctly. Our radiation therapists at EHHCC are trained in radiological sciences and board certified/ licensed with the State of Hawaii. The Radiation Therapists are vendor credentialed to operate the LNAC. Additionally, the Radiation Therapists always have video/audio of the patient to ensure safety at all times during treatment delivery.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an approved program recognized by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
Experience: Progressively responsible imaging technologist/specialist experience within the ranges stated below. Experience may be demonstrated a thorough knowledge of imaging procedures and/or techniques such as myelograms, discograms, arthrograms, etc. including the x-raying of such areas of the human anatomy as the chest, skull, gastro-intestinal tract, urinary tract, and vascular system.
Specialized Experience: Radiation oncology experience within the ranges stated below. Experience must demonstrate the ability to perform clinical radiation oncology procedures utilizing standard or modified radiation oncology techniques in accordance with physician’s ordered procedures, protocols and quality standards in the treatment of oncology patients.
Certification: A current American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy (T). BLS is required within six months of employment.
Licensure: A current State of Hawaii Radiologic Technologist license as a Radiation Therapist.

* Rates listed for paid holidays, vacation and sick days are for 1.0 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) positions assigned to 8 hour shifts. Accruals for these benefits are otherwise prorated based on FTE.

Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
