Job Summary

The Imaging & DME Assistant is responsible for assisting imaging technologists with ancillary duties. Supports the clinic DME products and inventory management. Facilitates patient fittings and dispenses at the time of service. 

Essential Functions

  • Acknowledge the patients for x-ray and MRI in the system.
  • Transports patients from room to room, discharges, admissions, surgery exam transportation and in hospital house transport.
  • Stock x-ray rooms with supplies; pillowcases, cleaning supplies, wipes, sanitizer, gowns.
  • Burn image disks and import discs as needed.
  • Restock gowns and scrubs for the MRI patients.
  • Print all injection requests and assist with incoming x-ray calls.
  • Help push fax or mail to outside facilities.
  • Assist techs when the patient’s need to move from a wheelchair to the x-ray table.
  • Assist with cleaning the rooms between patients.
  • Responds to clinic orders for DME and facilitates patient fittings and dispenses at the time of service.
  • Reconcile DME orders to packing slips daily and stock items as they arrive to their specified locations.
  • Anticipate and maintain appropriate inventory levels for DME products by communicating with the Inventory Specialist.
  • Manage and ensure DME compliance.
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of the DME product library.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace for patient DME fittings.
  • Educate appropriate staff on DME fitting and the distribution processes and DME changes.
  • Respond to physician and staff requests or questions related to DME fittings, options, orders, etc.
  • Complete appropriate paperwork related to DME product.
  • Ensure all products that are dispensed are accounted for and billed correctly.
  • Assist in maintaining and revising physician protocols related to DME.
  • Ensure appropriate and detailed accounting of merchandise and credits.
  • Comply with Medicare DMEPOS Supplier Standards
  • Comply with HIPAA, OSHA, and Red Flag Rules
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a clinical environment. Involves exposure to radiation and frequent contact with patients, physicians, and other healthcare personnel. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive. May involve interaction with injured or sick patients.

Travel

Travel between Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute locations is required for this position.

Minimum Education Requirements

High school diploma or the equivalent.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods, work longer than eight (8) hour shifts, and to work both day/evening shifts.  Work may hand dexterity as well as the need to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.  While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear.
