The primary role of Special Edu/ IEP Aide is to provide support to students in Baltimore City.
This will be a M-F school based Full Time hours schedule for the 23-24 School Year.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/ DUTIES
- Requires special lifting or handling of physically disabled students for transportation, toileting and/or feeding assistance
- Follow behavior management plan provided
- Assist with classroom management such as organizing instructional and other materials
- Provide assistance with students in a computer laboratory
- Provide instructional services to students under the direct supervision of the teacher
- Requires duties to be performed on school premises, field trip sites, during transportation, or any other off-site activity in which the student participates
- Assignments may include more than one student within a classroom depending on the specific Individual Education Plan (IEP) services for each child
- Responsible for own transportation to the student’s school OR bus company/ student’s home /other pre-negotiated area if accompaniment is required during transportation. Attendance is required whenever the student is present in school.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Minimum high school diploma or GED
- Non-therapeutic aides must have completed 20 hrs of training provided by the agency to include: Behavior management strategies, Review of classroom procedures
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand Standard English and carryout directions and instructions by the student’s teacher and/or principal. Bi-lingual aides may be requested.
- Must demonstrate emotional and mental maturity as well as display an interest and a sympathetic attitude toward working with children.
- Must be able to provide satisfactory work references and two satisfactory personal references. A satisfactory job related experience can be substituted for work references.
- at least one (1) year in the pediatric care setting, school health, general pediatric, home health, community health, public health
- Current CPR/First Aid
- pre-employment criminal background
- physical exam (within one year)

Pay:
- $20/ hour for Non Therapeutic Aide
- $24/ hour for Therapeutic Aide
