Position Summary: Under the leadership of the Director, Nursing, the Monitor Technician is an active member of the department that collects data, provides comfort measures and basic care to patients. The Monitor Technician collects data, enters laboratory and radiology requests into the computer systems, performs basic patient care under direct nurse supervision and performs unit secretary duties within the ICU Department. The Technician monitors the cardiac display/scopes, records, detects and reports the abnormal rhythms to the RN’s caring for the patients. The Monitor Technician may also function as a Patient Care Technician.
Basic Qualifications: · Education: Requires a high school diploma in General Studies or a GED state certification. Requires the completion of a basic arrhythmia course within six months of hire. · Experience: Requires up to one year of work-related experience and on-the-job training or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. · Licensure, Registrations & Certifications: No certification required for this position.
