Description

The Aquatics and Athletic Facilities Division of M-NCPPC, is seeking an Ice Rink Facility Manager for Tucker Road Ice Rink! Our ideal candidate will provide facility management, maintenance, and operation of a multi-functional facility. The selected candidate will be directly responsible for applying technical expertise in the development and management of revenue generating and diverse sports, recreation, and cultural programs for all ages. The position's work assignment often includes special projects requiring a high degree of specialized and comprehensive knowledge and expertise.

The M-NCPPC offers a competitive salary range of $65,465 to $115,941 at the Facility Manager level with an excellent benefits package including generous leave, extensive health coverage, deferred compensation plan, employers retirement plan, and work-life programs. The hiring range for this position will be $65,465 to midpoint of the advertised salary range and will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Examples of Important Duties

  • Oversee the operations of the Ice Rink, developing and implementing procedures, goals and objectives.
  • Manages facility's operating budget, with an emphasis on revenue producing programming. Prepares annual projections, financial reports and monitors revenues and expenditures throughout the fiscal year to ensure facility reaches budgeting expectations.
  • Supervises full time and intermittent staff which entails but is not limited to recruitment, selecting, training, and evaluating. Also, plans, schedules, and assigns work for staff. Counselling staff on opportunities to improve performance and initiates disciplinary action when vital.
  • Works with multiple divisions and maintenance personnel to ensure that the facility's systems are operating properly and supervises staff on the day-to-day maintenance and repair of the facilities. Actively coordinates maintenance, and repairs.
  • Schedules leased ice time and programs for internal and external use, developing a balance of programming for community and revenue generation.
  • Develops marketing strategies for programs to promote attendance and facility usage.
  • Regularly meets with citizens, community groups, and business groups to identify needs, plan programs, and answer questions about the facility. Investigates complaints, issues, and problems.
  • Oversees the customer service experience of the facility, making sure staff are properly trained, setting a positive example for employees, and ensuring customers are treated in a timely, professional, and respectful manner.
  • Manages facility records and reports in accordance with Commission policies and procedures. Prepare and maintain a variety of administrative records such as revenue and expenses, inventory of supplies and equipment, timecards, rentals, facility maintenance and attendance.
  • Works collaboratively with other Commission divisions, partner agencies and outside agencies. Participates optimally on assigned committees. Performs special project work in the community on behalf of the supervisor, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation, Facility Management, Recreation Management, Education, Business Administration, Physical Education, Communication, Leisure Services, or any related field.
  • Two (2) years of responsible professional experience working in a facility related to parks, recreation, leisure services, or area of required specialty (e.g., arts, performing arts, equestrian, tennis, aquatics, gymnastics, ice rinks); including one (1) year as a facility manager, program coordinator or supervisor.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total six (6) years.
  • Valid driver's license in accordance with both State and Commission rules and regulations. Drivers license must be unencumbered by restrictions, revocations, suspensions or points that could limit the employees ability to drive Commission vehicles or perform driving duties required of the position.
  • Contingent upon area of assignment, some positions in this class may require valid: (a) operating license (e.g., county pool operator, childcare license) as appropriate; (b) First Aid, CPR, automated external defibrillator (AED) certifications; or (c) certifications as related to assignment (e.g., Lifeguard Instruction, Fundamentals of Gymnastics).
  • Pass Commission medical exam.

Working Conditions

Works inside and outside an assigned facility which may operate seven days per week. Works extended hours, evenings, weekends and holidays. On-call to respond to emergency situations as required. Incumbents in this class must frequently remain in a stationary position, operate vehicles, communicate and exchange information with internal staff and the public, be able to see for short and long distances, and occasionally lift equipment and other items weighing up to 49 pounds and ascend and descend ladders and stairs.
