West Metro Aviation is seeking a certified Inspector Authorization Aircraft & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic with at least 4 years of leadership experience to join our growing team in Buffalo, Minnesota. Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs in accordance with FAA regulations and company quality standards.

  • Exercise Inspector Authorization (IA) privileges, including approving aircraft for return to service and conducting annual and progressive inspections.

  • Lead and mentor maintenance team members, providing technical guidance and ensuring adherence to best practices.

  • Ensure all work is properly documented with accurate logbook entries and compliance records.

  • Diagnose mechanical and structural issues efficiently and implement corrective actions.

  • Maintain strict attention to detail to uphold “air show-level” quality standards.

  • Coordinate with customers, pilots, and team members to communicate aircraft status, findings, and timelines.

  • Promote and enforce a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Assist in workflow planning, scheduling, and shop efficiency initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Current FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification required.

  • Active Inspector Authorization (IA) required.

  • Minimum of 4 years of leadership or supervisory experience in an aviation maintenance environment.

  • Strong working knowledge of FAA regulations, inspection procedures, and maintenance documentation.

  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage priorities, and maintain high-quality standards under deadlines.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across a variety of aircraft systems.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers and team members.

  • High level of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and pride in workmanship.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

  • Experience with general aviation aircraft.
