Insight Global is seeking a Hydrovac Diesel Mechanic for a leading industrial services client specializing in vacuum excavation and hydrovac operations. This role is critical to maintaining a high-performing fleet of specialized trucks and heavy equipment, ensuring safe and efficient field operations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on mechanic with strong diagnostic skills who thrives in both shop and field environments. This position offers the opportunity to work on unique hydrovac equipment while playing a key role in minimizing downtime and supporting critical infrastructure and construction projects.

Day-to-Day:

Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel-powered hydrovac trucks and heavy equipment
Perform preventative maintenance (fluid checks, greasing, belts, hoses, safety checks)
Troubleshoot and resolve equipment failures in the shop and in the field
Respond to emergency repair calls and minimize operational downtime
Maintain parts inventory, tools, and service schedules
Document and track service records, inspections, and compliance logs
Support safety audits and regulatory inspections
Operate tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic software
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Travel occasionally to job sites and work in challenging field conditions

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of hands-on experience in diesel truck or heavy equipment repair
Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
Experience using diagnostic tools and scan equipment
Ability to inspect, diagnose, and repair heavy equipment and commercial trucks
Experience performing major repairs and preventative maintenance (PMs)
Ability to troubleshoot breakdowns in both shop and field environments
Experience maintaining service records and inspection logs
Valid driver's license

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience working on hydrovac / vacuum trucks or vacuum excavation equipment
Experience with Freightliner chassis
Experience with Allison transmissions
Knowledge of DOT compliance regulations for commercial vehicles
Willingness or ability to obtain a CDL (Class B or higher)
Experience with welding equipment and hydraulic systems testing
