A bit about us:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Automotive Controller to join our team. This role will oversee all financial and accounting activities within our automotive dealership. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of accounting and financial control functions including general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, tax compliance, inventory control, budgeting, and financial reporting. A strong understanding of dealership operations, financial analysis, and strategic planning will be key to this role. This is a permanent hybrid position, offering the flexibility to work both remotely and on-site.

Job Details

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
  • Coordinate the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
  • Support month-end and year-end close process.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Calculate commissions and handle payroll for a large team.
  • Oversee the financial aspects of business planning, strategic planning, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Lead the finance team, nurturing a culture of leadership and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct floor plan reconciliation and other dealership controller tasks as required.
  • Provide leadership in risk management and legal activities involving the company's financial status.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, specifically as a dealership controller.
  • Strong understanding of dealership operations and automotive retailing.
  • Proven experience in financial analysis, strategic planning, and leadership.
  • Proficiency in all aspects of corporate accounting and all pertinent GAAP, SEC rules and regulations including Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
  • Experience with creating financial statements, general ledger functions, and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
  • Experience with payroll, calculating commissions, tax, business planning, management, accounts payable, strategic planning, leadership, process improvement, internal controls, financial statements, and managerial finance.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Impeccable analytical and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Ability to work closely with a senior management team.
  • Floor plan reconciliation experience is preferred.
