    Position Overview

    The HVAC Technician is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining heating, ventilation, and air‑conditioning systems in residential and light commercial environments. This role involves diagnosing system issues, performing routine and complex maintenance, ensuring compliance with mechanical codes and manufacturer standards, and completing work efficiently with minimal supervision. Technicians should be comfortable working across a variety of service, replacement, upgrade, renovation, and system build‑out projects.

    Because this role is highly customer‑facing, strong communication skills and a professional demeanor are essential. The ideal candidate is experienced, organized, safety‑conscious, and committed to delivering high‑quality workmanship while representing the company with professionalism.

    $22 - $30 an hour

    Key Responsibilities

    HVAC Technical Work

    • Plan, assemble, install, maintain, and test HVAC equipment and systems in residential and commercial settings.

    • Install, service, and repair furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers, ductwork, thermostats, and related controls.

    • Perform system replacements, equipment upgrades, refrigerant charging, airflow balancing, and other technical tasks.

    • Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical plans, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.

    • Ensure all work complies with mechanical codes, manufacturer specifications, and industry best practices.

    • Diagnose system issues using meters, gauges, and specialized HVAC tools; perform necessary calculations such as airflow, load, and refrigerant measurements.

    • Operate and maintain service vehicles, tools, gauges, recovery machines, and related equipment.

    Customer Service & Operational Support

    • Communicate clearly with customers and team members regarding job scope, timelines, and work performed.

    • Complete service tickets, documentation, and daily logs accurately and promptly.

    • Collect payment for services when required.

    • Organize and prioritize daily work to meet project commitments.

    • Prepare for upcoming jobs by ensuring proper materials and equipment are available.

    • Maintain current industry knowledge through training, certifications, and technical publications.

    • Identify and recommend additional services when appropriate.

    • Maintain clean, safe, and orderly work environments at all job sites.

    Qualifications

    • HVAC certification(s) - At least the EPA 608 Certification.

    • Minimum 2 years of residential and light commercial HVAC service experience. Technical school experience is valid.

    • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, mechanical codes, refrigeration principles, and safe work practices.

    • Experience with older systems, legacy equipment, and retrofit scenarios is highly valued.

    • Leadership or mentoring experience is a plus.

    • Strong writing and math skills for accurate documentation and service notes.

    • Excellent communication skills with customers, team members, and office staff.

    • Clean driving record and ability to pass background and drug screening.

    • Authorized to work in the United States.

    • Proficiency with mobile work order apps, time‑tracking tools, and basic inventory systems.

    Physical & Work Environment Requirements

    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work on ladders up to 30 ft.

    • Work performed in residential homes, commercial buildings, and outdoor environments.

    • Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends for emergency service needs.
