JOB SUMMARY:
Assists and participates in the maintenance, installation and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment as necessary to develop and maintain school system equipment, buildings and facilities.
REPORTS TO:
HVAC Supervisor; Director of Maintenance

QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Vocational/Technical school training in HVAC equipment and repair is desired.
Some experience in the service, repair, and installation of HVAC equipment and controls is desired.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
Ability to properly use and maintain HVAC tools.
Good communication and human relations skills are required.
Some knowledge of the standard practices, methods and tools used in installing, operating, maintaining and repairing air conditioning, heating and refrigeration equipment.
Some knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
Ability to install, adjust, maintain and repair HVAC equipment.
Ability to read, comprehend and interpret plans, layouts and blueprints.
Ability to interpret and apply rules, regulations and procedures.
Ability to take directions and follow instructions.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
Skill in the care and use of tools and equipment common to the trade.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
Must have valid Georgia Class C driver's license or equivalent.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires moderate physical effort involving considerable standing, walking, climbing, bending, and stooping. Work may require the use of respiratory protective gear/equipment. Requires periodic lifting of moderately heavy items.
Overtime, night work and availability to respond to emergencies.
SALARY/TERMS/BENEFITS:
239 day work year; 8 hours per day.
Grade 122J. Salary Range: $23.52 - $25.55 Hourly (placement on salary schedule based on years of allowed related experience). The stated salary range reflects the opportunity for pay over the course of the employee's tenure. For External Candidates, the top salary is not a potential starting salary.)
