Amtec Staffing has partnered with a growing HVAC and mechanical services contractor to find an experienced HVAC Service Technician/Manager to support their expanding service operations. About the Role:

As an HVAC Service Technician, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC systems across commercial and residential properties. This role requires a strong technical background in heating and cooling systems, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work independently in the field while maintaining high standards for safety and quality.


Responsibilities

  • Service & Repair
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair residential and commercial HVAC systems including air conditioning units, furnaces, heat pumps, rooftop units, split systems, and ventilation equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, filter replacements, and system tune-ups
  • Identify equipment malfunctions and recommend repair or replacement solutions
  • Assist with installation and startup of HVAC equipment when needed
  • Maintain accurate service records including labor hours, materials used, and follow-up recommendations
  • Field Coordination & Customer Service
  • Respond to service calls in a timely and professional manner
  • Communicate directly with customers regarding system issues, repair recommendations, and preventative maintenance needs
  • Coordinate with dispatchers, project managers, and senior technicians to prioritize service requests
  • Maintain a clean and organized service vehicle, tools, and equipment
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company standards and customer expectations


Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies while working in residential, commercial, and industrial environments
  • Work safely around electrical systems, refrigerants, moving equipment, ladders, and confined spaces
  • Wear appropriate PPE including gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hats, and safety boots
  • Maintain compliance with EPA regulations, OSHA standards, and local building codes

  • Support and mentor junior technicians or apprentices in the field
  • Continue to develop technical knowledge through training, certifications, and hands-on experience
  • Stay current on HVAC technologies, controls, energy efficiency solutions, and new equipment offerings


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience servicing and repairing residential and/or commercial HVAC systems
  • Experience with air conditioning units, furnaces, heat pumps, ventilation systems, refrigeration systems, and rooftop units preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across mechanical, electrical, and HVAC controls systems


Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of an HVAC technical program, trade school, or apprenticeship preferred
  • EPA Certification required or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe
  • Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigerants, electrical components, controls, and preventative maintenance procedures
  • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications
  • Experience using gauges, meters, recovery machines, vacuum pumps, and other HVAC diagnostic tools
  • Basic computer skills for work orders, scheduling, and service documentation
