Role Overview
As a Project Manager/Estimator at A.E. Olsen, you are the bridge between a client’s vision and a functioning, efficient mechanical system. You will oversee residential and light commercial projects from the "napkin sketch" phase through final commissioning. We are looking for a leader who values precision, fosters a safe and positive job site culture, and treats every project with the craftsmanship our reputation is built on.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Estimation: Perform detailed take-offs and create comprehensive cost estimates for residential and light commercial HVAC systems (forced air, hydronic, heat pumps, and ductwork).
System Integration: Collaborate with architects and general contractors to ensure mechanical designs are seamlessly integrated into building envelopes.
Resource Management: Schedule and lead a team of skilled technicians; vet and coordinate with subcontractors to ensure A.E. Olsen’s quality standards are met.
Budgetary Oversight: Track project costs in real-time, manage change orders, and ensure projects remain profitable and on schedule.
Safety & Compliance: Enforce OSHA standards and ensure all installations meet local Vermont/New York building codes and manufacturer specifications.
Client Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing clear updates and technical expertise to ensure total satisfaction.
Professional Requirements
Experience: 5+ years in HVAC installation or service, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or estimating role.
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of Load Calculations (Manual J, S, and D), ASHRAE standards, and energy efficiency requirements.
Software Proficiency: Familiarity with estimating software (e.g., Wrightsoft, FastPIPE, or QuoteSoft) and project management tools.
Problem-Solving: Proven ability to troubleshoot design-build challenges on the fly without compromising system integrity.
Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to bridge the gap between technical crews and non-technical clients.
