Job Title: Senior HVAC Design Technician (Industrial & Mission-Critical)

Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior HVAC Design Technician to lead the development of complex mechanical system designs for large-scale industrial and mission-critical projects. This is a "career-level" role for a designer who is ready to take full ownership of their work. You will move beyond simple drafting to become the lead designer for specific systems, floor levels, or standalone small-scale projects.
The ideal candidate is a technical problem-solver who can take high-level engineering direction and translate it into precise, constructible models and documentation. You will serve as a mentor to junior designers and act as a key point of coordination between disciplines, ensuring that our mechanical systems are integrated, code-compliant, and delivered on time.

Key Responsibilities
Design Ownership & Execution
• System Design & Layout: Plan and conduct layout work for HVAC conveyance and equipment, applying sound engineering judgment and creativity.
• Deliverable Excellence: Lead the creation, coordination, and publication of all project deliverables, including 3D models, plan sets, sections, flow diagrams, and P&IDs.
• Standalone Capability: Act as a standalone technical entity on smaller projects, interfacing directly with owners and engineering leads to identify goals and requirements.
• Coordination Lead: On larger projects, function as the "lead designer" for specific mechanical subsystems (e.g., wet/dry side systems). Oversee the work of junior/intermediate designers to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Technical Coordination & Field Support
• Interdisciplinary Conflict Resolution: Coordinate designs across all trades (Internal/External) to resolve spatial conflicts and ensure constructability.
• Field Surveying: Perform field surveys of existing conditions to document accurate "as-is" environments for retrofit and expansion planning.
• Quality & Code Compliance: Ensure all designs adhere to relevant building codes, specifications, and internal design standards. Perform "back-checking" and quality reviews on the work of others to maintain a high degree of design accuracy.
• Submittal Management: Review and process submittal documents, provide specification input, and respond to RFI/coordination requests with urgency.

Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Education: Associate degree in Computer Drafting & Design, or a related technical program.
• Experience Baseline: Minimum of five (5) years of professional work experience in building mechanical design.
• Software Mastery:
oExtensive modeling and drafting proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
oNavisworks expertise (required for model review and clash coordination).
• Technical Knowledge: Deep knowledge of HVAC principles and related mechanical systems.
• Code Literacy: Strong working knowledge of relevant mechanical/building codes and industry standards.

Preferred Attributes
• Proven experience supporting complex, multi-discipline industrial or high-complexity facility projects.
• Ability to provide accurate labor estimates for personal task lists.
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to provide technical guidance to designers and engineers of all levels.
