Mechanical Designer III (Building Systems / Semiconductor Facilities)

Location: Fully Remote (U.S.)
Hybrid Requirement: Candidates residing within 50 miles of an office will be expected to work a hybrid schedule (2 days per week in-office).

Overview

Seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer III to support the design and development of mechanical building systems for semiconductor and other high-tech manufacturing facilities. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, technically challenging projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams across the country.

At this level, designers take significant ownership of their work, contributing to projects from concept through construction documentation. The successful candidate will have strong HVAC and mechanical systems design experience, advanced Revit modeling capabilities, and the ability to independently move projects forward with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop mechanical system designs for semiconductor and high-tech facility projects
  • Create, coordinate, and publish project deliverables including:
    • Revit models
    • Construction drawings
    • Equipment layouts
    • Flow diagrams
    • P&IDs
    • Details, sections, and sketches
  • Participate in project planning, code reviews, and design discussions
  • Coordinate designs with internal disciplines and external project stakeholders
  • Review project specifications and ensure design compliance with applicable codes and standards
  • Perform clash detection and model reviews utilizing Navisworks
  • Conduct field surveys and verify existing conditions as required
  • Review and process submittals and design documentation
  • Support engineering teams with design development and coordination efforts
  • Provide technical guidance and review work completed by junior designers and early-career engineers
  • Assist with engineering calculations under the direction of project engineers
  • Develop labor estimates and support project planning activities
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Computer Drafting & Design, Engineering Technology, or related discipline; equivalent experience considered
  • Minimum 5 years of mechanical building systems design experience
  • Experience supporting semiconductor, microelectronics, advanced manufacturing, pharmaceutical, data center, or other high-tech facility projects
  • Extensive experience with:
    • Revit
    • AutoCAD
    • Mechanical system modeling and drafting
  • Strong understanding of HVAC and related mechanical systems
  • Working knowledge of applicable building codes and industry standards
  • Experience utilizing Navisworks for model review and coordination
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading portions of large-scale industrial or semiconductor facility projects
  • Experience reviewing and coordinating P&IDs
  • Knowledge of cleanroom environments and mission-critical building systems
  • Experience mentoring junior designers and reviewing design deliverables
