The Archer School for Girls seeks a Humanities Teaching Apprentice for the 2026-2027 school year. The Humanities Teaching Apprentice position offers the opportunity to develop expertise in teaching either English or History. We are looking for a candidate with a solid foundation in one of these subjects.
The Teaching Apprentice gains hands-on experience by working alongside a mentor teacher to build a repertoire of forward-thinking, student-centered instructional practices. Ideal candidates have a growth mindset, a positive outlook, and a strong appreciation for the importance of contributing to a diverse and inclusive community. A passion for working with young people in a culture of teaching excellence is essential.
Responsibilities include:
The Apprentice Program includes:

Teach up to 2 classes with an experienced mentor teacher
Ongoing collaboration on curriculum and lesson design
A formalized teacher education program including:
Pedagogical instruction on research-based practices
Apprentice learning cohort
Individualized goal setting and ongoing planning and reflection meetings
Formal and informal observations with feedback
Resources to develop a repertoire of teaching tools and routines
Participation in all internal Archer PD
Observation and collaboration with skilled teachers within and beyond subjects
Peer support for professional growth, support, and reflection
