Job TITLE: Human Resources Office Support Classified Personnel
Office Support V
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
Grade: 66
Term: 12 months
REPORTS TO: Chief of Human Resources and Executive Director of HR and Classfied Personnel
QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES:
- High School Diploma required. Two-year degree or more preferred.
- Three or more years of office experience involving a variety of complex duties.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Good working knowledge of Google (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.)
- Good working knowledge of Gmail.
- Ability to think clearly, creatively, logically, and grasp new concepts quickly.
- Notary Public.
- Bi-Lingual not required, but considered a plus
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare new hire folders for newly hired Classified Staff.
- Run sign-up meetings weekly with newly hired Classified Staff.
- Create new hire badges for newly hired Classified Staff.
- Process and check files after Classified sign-up meetings to assure accuracy.
- Maintain and update job descriptions for classified employees.
- Keep track of newly hired Classified Staff using spreadsheets.
- Process transfers for Classified Staff and assign new badges.
- Complete E-Verify for newly hired Classified Staff.
- Assist with annual NCDPI Highly Qualified Report.
- Run New Hire Reports.
- Inform the Transportation Department of all new classified staff changes.
- Assist with Drug and Alcohol Screening.
- Track and process Experience Credit Submissions.
- Process resignations for all staff.
- Handle Department filing.
- Implement and carry out other duties as assigned.
- Complete pre-employment processing, including criminal background checks, E-Verify, employment eligibility verification, health documentation, and other required hiring documentation.
- Communicate with applicants, supervisors, principals, and department leaders regarding employment processes and onboarding requirements.
- Maintain hiring records, spreadsheets, and reports to ensure accurate tracking of classified personnel.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms.
- Ability to present information to individuals and groups with professionalism, confidence, and effective communication skills.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and computer technology for extended periods.
- Ability to perform the essential physical requirements of the position, including sitting, standing, walking, reaching, grasping, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, repetitive motion, and other activities associated with office work.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a valid NC driver's license.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all employees of Johnston County Public Schools as well as local, state and federal governmental agencies.
- Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations.
