Our more than 30 programs throughout the district provide comprehensive services that lead to mental and physical health, continued sobriety, job training, living-wage employment, and affordable housing. We meet immediate needs with food, clothing, and healthcare, and offer the tools one needs to live with hope, dignity, and greater independence.

Compensation: We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The salary range for this position is $78,644 to $80,000 and may be commensurate with experience.

Position Description: The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for administering and coordinating a wide range of Human Resources programs that support the employee lifecycle, organizational effectiveness, and workforce development. This position supports full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, learning and development, compensation analysis, HR compliance, and operational initiatives while serving as a strategic partner to managers and employees.

The Human Resources Generalist coordinates organization-wide training and leadership development programs, supports workforce planning and organizational design efforts, administers HR policies and records, and assists with employee engagement initiatives. Through collaboration, customer service, and operational excellence, this position helps ensure Human Resources programs are delivered efficiently, consistently, and in alignment with SOME's mission, values, and strategic objectives.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; This is a hybrid position. Must work onsite up to (3) days per week, (2) days remote.

Required: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field is required; Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience is required.

Preferred: Experience supporting recruitment, training, compliance, compensation, and employee relations is preferred. SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification is preferred.

Expected Contributions: Recruitment & Talent Operations

  • Manage the full recruitment lifecycle for up to five active requisitions at a time, including regular, on-call, and temporary staffing needs. Partner with hiring managers and temporary staffing agencies to support timely hiring and identify candidates who align with the position requirements and organizational needs.
  • Coordinate candidate sourcing activities using job boards, social media, community partnerships, employee referrals, and networking events.
  • Screen applications and conduct phone screens to identify qualified candidates.
  • Coordinate interviews, candidate communications, and pre-employment activities through onboarding.
  • Monitor recruitment metrics such as time-to-fill, candidate pipeline activity, and interview completion.
  • Coordinate pre-employment and onboarding activities including offer preparation, background screenings, new hire paperwork, orientation scheduling, and new employee follow-up.
  • Support staffing proposals, organizational restructuring, and workforce planning initiatives.
  • Coordinate job description development, revisions, and maintenance.
  • Attend career fairs and interviews for HR presence as needed

Learning & Organizational Development

  • Assist with organizational design initiatives, position evaluations, and workforce planning projects.
  • Coordinate employee training programs, including mandatory trainings (e.g., Handle with Care, CPR, and other compliance-related training)
  • Administer and maintain the organization's Learning Management System (LMS) and SOME University.
  • Coordinate the annual Leadership Cohort Program, including participant communication, scheduling, logistics, and program administration.
  • Coordinate the organization's mentorship program and support succession planning initiatives.
  • Identify, contract with, and manage relationships with external training vendors and facilitators.
  • Coordinate the HR training budget and process related invoices and expenses.
  • Manage the Continuing Education Unit (CEU) training program and ensure compliance with the AstraZeneca training grant requirements.
  • Coordinate the Annual Supervisors Summit, including planning, facilitator coordination, venue logistics, catering, and event execution.
  • Support salary analyses, compensation studies, position evaluations, and market benchmarking to promote equitable and competitive compensation practices.

Employee Relations & HR Operations

  • Responsible for employee relations matters involving on-call staff, including conducting workplace inquiries and fact-finding, advising supervisors, and maintaining appropriate case documentation. Serve as backup for complex investigations and employee relations matters, as assigned. Manage all employment offer rescissions, ensuring each action is completed consistently, professionally, and in accordance with organizational policies and applicable employment laws.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to supervisors regarding performance management, attendance, corrective action, and policy interpretation.
  • Prepare documentation related to disciplinary actions and employee relations matters.
  • Coordinate employee terminations and separation documentation in accordance with organizational policies and legal requirements.
  • Responsible for on-call employee timecard administration.
  • Maintain electronic personnel files and HR records, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.
  • Support department-wide filing projects and records management initiatives.
  • Provide cross-coverage for Human Resources functions during staff absences.
  • Assist with onboarding and training new Human Resources team members.
  • Plan and coordinate the Annual Meeting and Holiday Party in collaboration with committee members.
  • Support employee recognition, engagement, wellness, and retention initiatives designed to enhance the employee experience.
  • Manage employee quarterly awards and Employee of the Year

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Human Resources principles and practices, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, training and development, compensation, performance management, and HR operations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a Human Resources team while exercising initiative and working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and other applicable employment laws.
  • Knowledge of full-cycle recruitment processes, sourcing strategies, interview techniques, and candidate experience best practices.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines.
  • Knowledge of learning management systems (LMS), adult learning principles, instructional design concepts, and employee development programs.
  • Ability to interpret and apply Human Resources policies, procedures, and employment regulations consistently and fairly.
  • Knowledge of compensation fundamentals, including salary benchmarking, market pricing, and job evaluation methodologies.
  • Ability to coordinate organization-wide training programs, employee events, and workforce development initiatives.
  • Knowledge of employee relations practices, conflict resolution techniques, workplace investigations, and performance management processes.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings, orientations, and training sessions for employees at all organizational levels.
  • Strong customer service skills with a commitment to providing responsive, professional support to employees and leadership.
  • Knowledge of HRIS, applicant tracking systems (ATS), electronic personnel records management, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of records retention, document management, and Human Resources compliance requirements.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with employees, managers, executives, vendors, and external partners.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills, including the ability to coordinate and deliver employee orientation and training programs.
  • Skilled in recruiting, interviewing, evaluating candidates, and managing multiple recruitment processes simultaneously.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple Human Resources programs and projects while maintaining accuracy, quality, and confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Human Resources systems, including applicant tracking systems, HRIS platforms, and Learning Management Systems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, managers, executive leadership, vendors, and community partners.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism when handling confidential and sensitive Human Resources matters.

Reports To: Human Resources Manager

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds. Must be able to travel off-site using his or her own transportation methods. Requires looking at a computer screen for several hours a day. May be required to sit for long periods. This position may be active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing.
