Summary

This is the first of four levels in the Human Resources series.

Incumbents perform duties essential to Human Resources functions that are technical in nature. Responsibilities may include all aspects of the employee life cycle process; explaining policies and procedures; assisting employees with medical concerns, routine policies and procedures; and compiling reports.

Examples of Duties

  • Performs complete life cycle process on employee; pre-screens candidates and conducts preliminary interviews, processes hiring documentation and on-boarding, handles active status documentation, and processes inactive documentation and off-boarding of employee.
  • Participates in recruitment of talent through various methods including job fairs. Provides complete and accurate information to candidates about the Parish and positions including job descriptions and departmental information.
  • Assists employees confidentially with all medical needs including Family Medical leave Act (FMLA) requests and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Accommodations.
  • Maintains a variety of procedures, reports and documentation including, but not limited to organizational charts and position allocation reports.
  • Prepares, processes, reviews, and updates a variety of human resources information and/or related documents.
  • Answers routine questions regarding human resources policies, procedures and practices for employees, supervisors, and applicants.
  • Provides high level customer service for all employees, departments, Special Districts, and citizens of Calcasieu Parish.
  • Maintains employee files in compliance with applicable legal requirements.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not require supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelors degree; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Prefer Bachelors Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

Valid Drivers License as per State law or requirement.
