Human Resources Generalist - Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Roles and Responsibilities Overview:

•    Facilitate the onboarding, hiring, and new hire orientation of new hires. Reviews background screening results and employee eligibility verifications for new hires.

•    Facilitate all aspects of the new hire onboarding orientation process, including orientation, I-9 verification, e-verify, benefits enrollment, ESS enrollment, and first-day readiness coordination.

•    Serve as a trusted point of contact for employees and managers on HR policies, workplace concerns, and interpersonal issues.

•    Conduct initial investigations into employee complaints, documenting findings and recommending appropriate actions.

•    Support conflict resolution efforts and coach managers on performance counseling, corrective action, and disciplinary procedures.

•    Support open enrollment processes by preparing communications, coordinating vendor sessions, and assisting employees with elections.

•    Coordinate the annual performance review cycle, including tracking completion, and maintaining records.

•    Support the delivery of training programs such as onboarding, compliance, and leadership skills.

•    Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in the HRIS.

•    Monitor and interpret changes to federal, state, and local employment laws, including FLSA, FMLA, DOL, EEOC, NLRB, ADA, Title VII, HIPAA, FCRA, ERISA, and other laws and regulations.

•    Assist in the review and updating of HR policies, the employee handbook, and standard operating procedures.

•    Develop, update, and enforce HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook to ensure ongoing legal compliance with all laws and regulations.

•    Continuously review all policies and procedures to ensure compliance and implement corrective measures proactively.

•    Prepare and maintain HR reports, metrics dashboards, and analyses for HR leadership.

•    Assist in the review and update of HR policies, and standard operating procedures.

•    Process employment verifications and other employee HR requests.

•    Document human resources actions by completing forms, reports, and updates the ERP system.

•    Maintain compliance for I-9 and e-verify records for all employees.

•    Performs customer service functions by answering employee questions, answering and returning phone calls in a timely manner, and assisting employees with human resources requests.

•    Assists human resources with employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring to complex and sensitive matters including employee conflicts and resolutions.

•    Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

•    Facilitate a constructive and timely performance evaluation process for entire company.

•    Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors.

•    Complete all EEO-1 and VETS 4212 reporting requirements.

•    Complete all employment verification and electrical hours verification request.

•    Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with all training records.

•    Coordinate with all apprenticeship schools to ensure each student is classified correctly in the program.

•    Assist and lead department projects and assignments.

•    Assist all department managers with human resources requests, projects, and assignments.

•    Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

•    Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs such as compensation, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, productivity, recognition, morale, training, and other HR related programs.

•    Work with the recruiting, payroll, training, and other department teams on requests and projects.

•    Assist with career development programs including the internal training programs and the apprenticeship programs.

•    Performs other duties and projects assigned.

Qualifications:

•    Minimum of 5+ years of experience working in a Human Resources related job position.

•    SHRM-CP Certification required.

•    Bachelor’s degree in human resources is preferred.

•    Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR best practices.

•    Experience with HRIS platforms.
