The HR Generalist provides comprehensive human resources support to the HR Manager and contributes to the effective administration of HR programs across construction workforce. The HR Generalist maintains a high level of confidentiality, accuracy, and professionalism while assisting in the delivery of consistent and equitable HR practices.
Classification – Hourly, Non-exempt
Reports to – Human Resource Manager
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintain employee records, personnel files, and HRIS data in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
Prepare HR documentation including status changes, disciplinary forms, and employment verifications.
Assist with policy implementation and ensure adherence to established HR procedures.
Serve as an initial point of contact for employee inquiries regarding policies, benefits, and HR processes.
Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, etc.).
Maintain accurate I‑9 records and ensure compliance with E‑Verify requirements.
Assist the HR Manager with employee relations matters by gathering information, documenting concerns, and supporting investigations as directed.
Promote consistent application of company policies and support a positive work environment.
Assist employees with benefit enrollment, eligibility questions, and life‑event changes.
Assists with coordinating with benefit providers to resolve employee issues and maintain accurate records.
Support HR Manager with annual processes such as open enrollment, compensation reviews, and policy updates.
Support payroll processes by assisting with E-time setups and issues as needed.
Assist with incident reporting, workers’ compensation claims, and follow‑up documentation.
Assist with employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and company events.
Perform additional assignments as directed by HR Manager.

Primarily office‑based with periodic visits to construction sites as needed.
Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
Must be able to maintain professionalism in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work – Full time hourly position. Expected hours of work are 40 hours per week. Travel – 5% Education & Experience – 2–4 years of HR experience, ideally in construction, manufacturing, or another labor‑intensive industry. Associate degree in business administration or related field a plus.
