Primary Purpose:

The purpose of a Human Resources (HR) Coordinator is to support the effective and efficient operation of the HR department by coordinating administrative processes, assisting with benefits management and employee relations, and ensuring compliance with employment policies and procedures. Additionally, oversee assigned areas and ensure legally sound and effective human resources management programs, policies, and practices.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's degree in human resources or equivalent required

Master's degree in administration/leadership preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of administration of assigned programs and applicable laws

Ability to implement policy and procedures

Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets, perform data analysis, and do word processing

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and to small and large groups of employees

Excellent public relations, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

Experience:

3 years experience in human resources administration, public school administration, or related field

3 years leadership experience

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Human Resources Program Management

  • Assist in developing and implementing personnel policies and procedures in assigned area.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations on leave administration, performance appraisal, employee relations, and/or benefits.
  • Assist in ensuring district compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Monitor talent management components of District Strategic Plan.
  • Develop and deliver compliance training for campus administrators and district employees.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Assist with the coordination of the district's leave, health insurance, optional employee benefits, workers' compensation, and unemployment compensation benefit programs including overseeing relationship with insurance vendors and third-party administrators.
  • Manage open enrollment periods and benefits changes for all employees.
  • Maintain compliance with ACA reporting requirements.

Employee Relations

  • Support director of human resources with employee complaints, concerns, and investigations.
  • Support directors and employees on record keeping, retirement, and other personnel matters and procedures.
  • Coordinate effective districtwide employee recognition programs and Human Resource Department events; i.e. HR Pop Up Shops, Service Awards.
  • Assist with employee handbook updates annually. Inform employees of personnel policies, procedures, and programs that affect them.

Records

  • Support personnel records management and help ensure compliance with the state records management program.
  • Maintain files for interviews (district, campus) and employee investigations.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.

Other

  • Stay abreast of current research and best practices in human resources management and development in educational and non-education-related settings, and adjust plans, policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal employment laws. Stay abreast of state and federal public policy changes that could impact the district.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise and evaluate assigned human resources department employees.

Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent districtwide travel; occasional statewide travel and out-of-state travel

Works 226 Day Calendar

  • Salary is commensurate with experience
  • Starting Salary: $82,709
  • Sheldon ISD will accept applications for this position through May 5, 2026. After this date, applications will continue to be accepted in the event a suitable candidate is not identified.
