Primary Purpose:

The role of the Human Resources (HR) Clerk is to be the first contact for visitors in the Human Resources office or over the phone. The HR Clerk will support other employees in the HR office with clerical duties.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

High school diploma or GED

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to interpret and disseminate information to individuals and groups

Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Mastery of both oral and written English with the ability to write general correspondence

Proficiency in keyboarding and file maintenance

Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and do word processing

Ability to perform basic math

Performance Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Support board and administrative policies and decisions.

  2. Maintain professional work environment through a positive attitude, punctuality, regular attendance, phone etiquette and personal appearance.

  3. Receive and direct incoming calls, take reliable messages and route to appropriate staff.

  4. Receive, deliver and disseminate matters and information to the appropriate parties.

  5. Provide clerical assistance as needed; compile, maintain and file all reports, records and other documents as required; maintain confidentiality.

  6. Work under moderate supervision.

  7. Maintain confidentiality.

  8. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals

Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching and walking

Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds)

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Grade: Clerical Paraprofessional - 3
