Human Resources Business Partner

ProAmpac is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner to lead HR for our Lenexa, KS manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on, on-site HR leadership role supporting both hourly and salaried employees while serving as a trusted partner to the plant leadership team.

The HR Business Partner will lead core HR programs for the site, support employee relations, drive recruiting and onboarding, strengthen communication, and help build scalable HR practices that support the employee experience and business performance. This role reports to the Regional HR Manager and plays an important role in aligning people strategy with plant operations.
What you'll do:
As the HR leader for the Lenexa facility, you will:
- Lead and execute key HR programs, including employee relations, corrective actions, investigations, performance management, talent management, benefits and leave administration, compensation and payroll oversight, recognition, training, and development.
- Serve as the primary HR contact for hourly and salaried employees, responding to employment-related questions and supporting sensitive matters with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
- Partner with plant leaders to support employee engagement, leadership development, workforce planning, and a positive workplace culture.
- Manage full-cycle recruiting for the site, including job postings, sourcing, interviewing, selection, hiring, and onboarding.
- Own the employee experience from candidate stage through the first 90 days of employment.
- Maintain accurate and compliant HR records, including personnel files, attendance tracking, documentation, and required reporting.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and consistent application of company policies and HR best practices.
- Manage site communications, including employee notices, communication boards, digital displays, and other employee updates.
- Oversee temporary labor processes, including agency partnerships, workforce planning, and weekly payroll approvals.
- Support culture-building initiatives, wellness programs, employee engagement activities, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Champion a safe workplace by reinforcing safety policies, supporting OSHA compliance, and ensuring timely reporting of incidents, hazards, and workplace concerns.
- Support a 24/7 manufacturing environment with periodic availability across multiple shifts.
What you'll bring:
We are looking for an HR professional who can balance strategy with execution, build trust across the floor and leadership team, and bring structure to a fast-moving manufacturing environment.
Ideal qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred. Equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
- 3 to 5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing, industrial, or plant environment.
- Experience supporting hourly and salaried employee populations.
- Strong employee relations experience, including investigations, corrective action, coaching, and conflict resolution.
- Full-cycle recruiting experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Manufacturing recruiting experience is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including the ability to run reports, review HR data, identify trends, and translate insights into action.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
- Self-directed, resourceful, and comfortable leading initiatives independently while collaborating across teams.
- Flexibility to support employees and leaders across multiple shifts as needed.
