Position Title: Human Resources Assistant
Location: Administrative Building , Lakeland, FL
Position Summary
The HR Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the Human Resources department of a non-profit behavioral health agency. This role assists with employee records management, benefits administration, compliance tracking, and general HR support. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, compassionate, and able to maintain confidentiality while supporting a mission-driven workforce serving individuals with behavioral health needs.

Human Resources Administration
Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files and HR records.
Assist with data entry and updates in the current HRI system.
Prepare employment documents including offer letters, onboarding packets, and employment verifications.
Support employee onboarding and orientation processes as needed.
Track required licenses, certifications, and training data for agency staff.
Assist with benefits enrollment and employee questions regarding benefits and HR policies.
Coordinate the monthly In-Service training meetings, to include recording attendance and issuing of applicable certificates and awarded CEU’s.
Respond to routine employee inquiries and direct more complex issues to HR leadership.
Recruitment & Hiring Support
Post job openings on job boards, agency websites, and recruitment platforms.
Prepare onboarding packets.
Compliance & Recordkeeping
Assist with maintaining compliance related to credentialing, and accreditation standards.
Support audits and reporting requirements as needed.
Maintain confidentiality of employee and agency information at all times.
Administrative Support
Manage HR email inboxes, phone calls, filing.
Prepare correspondence for exiting staff.
Process employment verifications.
Support special HR projects and other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 1–2 years of administrative or HR support experience preferred.
Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or non-profit settings is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Understanding basic HR principles and employment practices.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR/payroll systems.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions
Office-based with occasional participation in agency events or training. May require prolonged periods of sitting, computer use, and phone communication.
