The Human Resources Assistant I is responsible for a variety of administrative support activities within the Human Resources Department. This includes assisting with employee records, answering employee inquiries, coordinating employee onboarding and/or offboarding, administering employee benefits, assisting with HR compliance, managing the company shirt store, and performing other daily HR functions. Keeps the Human Resources Manager updated regarding their area of responsibility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Responsible for providing administrative support within the Human Resources department. Provides a variety of administrative functions, including but not limited to employee onboarding/offboarding; data entry and audits; administration of employee benefits, FMLA, and worker's compensation plans; establishing and maintaining employee files; answering and directing phone calls and emails; sorting and distributing mail; scanning and filing documents; and ensuring HR records are accurate and maintained in accordance with company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations. This duty is performed about 40% of the time.
- Compiles, prepares, and processes a wide variety of Human Resources related correspondence and/or data that contains confidential and sensitive information. This duty is performed about 30% of the time.
- Completes a variety of compliance related activities in a timely manner. This duty is performed about 20% of the time.
- Sends correspondence for follow up, processes routine invoices, and assists with special projects. This duty is performed about 10% of the time.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance, punctuality and personal appearance. Reads, writes, and communicates in a clear and efficient manner via various types of correspondence, such as, in person, phone, email, letters, etc. Adheres to all company policies and procedures, as well as all applicable banking rules, regulations, and laws (including BSA/AML).
- Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or GED
- Relevant work experience and/or training is preferred
- Excellent customer service, active listening, and written/verbal communication skills required
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills required
- Regular use of desktop/laptop computer, operating systems, and specialized software systems, as well as the ability to learn and navigate them proficiently
- Intermediate experience with alphanumeric data entry, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word Processing
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide
