Job Description

Provides general assistance to implement basic Health, Safety and Environmental duties at active NANA Construction work sites. Ensure practical, cost-effective measures are utilized within the workplace, and a safety culture exists to ensure employees are accountable and responsible for achieving an Incident Free workplace, by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site specific safety orientation.
  • Assist in the development of a strong safety culture within the workforce.
  • Conduct Behavioral Based Safety Observations training. BBS coaching.
  • Train employees on safety and health requirements to ensure compliance with regulations as required.
  • Train employees on the respiratory protection program.
  • Assist employees with proper PPE selection.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate exposures, hazards and risks that have the potential to cause injury, property damage, or environmental impacts. Assist the team in the development of procedures and/or work processes to mitigate those risks.
  • Assists with project safety plans and enforcement on site to achieve established HSE objectives and goals. Effectively communicate and interpret applicable HSE regulations as they pertain to daily activities and projects.
  • Assist with the selection and presentation of safety topics for daily and weekly safety meetings.
  • Must be familiar with the safe operation of tools and equipment.
  • Immediately report all Incidents, regardless of how small, to the Supervisor.
  • Assist with incident investigations as required.
  • Conduct job site safety audits.
  • Provide ongoing field presence for face-to-face communication and promoting HSE expectations.
  • Interface with management and clients regarding HSE issues and concerns.
  • Maintain high level of confidentiality when necessary.
  • Respond to emergency situations and administer basic first-aid as required.
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
  • Other duties that are pertinent to the project's success may also be assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum three (3) years directly related HSE experience on a construction site.
  • HSE Technician certification.
  • First-Aid CPR/AED current certification.
  • Intermediate skillset with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Must have construction experience (min. 5 years), oilfield, and mining experience are a plus.
  • Well organized and skilled at time management.
  • Effective team leadership skills.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of fall protection and working at heights requirements.
  • Knowledgeable in Hot Work Practices including fire watch.
  • Knowledgeable in Confined Space standards
  • Expected to attain or be in the process of obtaining a recognized safety certification (OHST, CHST) within one year of hire.
  • Driver's License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy.

Travel Requirements

Travel may require an employee or contractor to pass a TSA security checkpoint. If the employee or contractor does not have valid identification, they will not be able to travel until valid identification is obtained and verified. For this reason, all employees and contractors must have valid identification when traveling to and from the site.

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
