SOCIAL WORKER
SCHOOL-BASED YOUTH SERVICES PROGRAM (SBYSP)
Job Goal: To help students resolve personal, emotional, and social problems that interfere with their adjustment to school and their capacity to enjoy the fullest benefits of the education offered to them.
Qualifications:
- Master's-level degree and Clinical Licensure, such as LCSW or LPC with LCADC. Valid NJ Educational Services Certificate, such as School Social Worker and/or Student Assistant Counselor.
- Experience working with adolescents in a school setting.
- Experience working with families and community health and social services agencies;
- Effective problem solving, human relations, and communication skills;
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish required, with demonstrated ability to effectively engage and support Spanish-speaking students and families.
- Required criminal history check.
Responsibilities:
- To engage and connect with students who have been referred. To complete the intake assessment and develop a treatment plan that best addresses the identified issue.
- To provide individual, group, and family counseling services for identified students "at-risk" and/or "in-crisis". The clinician will address all issues impacting a student's mental health and academic success.
- Serve as a liaison with parents to facilitate access to treatment or health care facilities.
- Maintain a strict code of confidentiality and ethics regarding record-keeping procedures, consultation with staff members and outside agencies, and obtaining releases of information.
- To maintain communication with school departments such as the Superintendent, Principal, Assistant Principal, teachers, guidance, nurse, and child study team for continuity of care.
- To present preventative programs to support the curriculum.
- To provide support as needed for recreational and activity functions, evening events, and fundraising activities.
