Description

HRIS Technology Architect The Waldinger Corporation | Des Moines, IA

About the role
At Waldinger, we build the infrastructure that keeps communities running — and we want the systems powering our people to be just as strong. If you've spent years mastering payroll integrations, absence management, and enterprise HRIS ecosystems and you're ready to own a complex, enterprise-scale environment, we built this role for you.
Workday experience is a strong plus. Whether you hold a Workday Pro Payroll certification or have hands-on exposure to Workday payroll, absence, and integrations, your platform knowledge will make an immediate impact here.

What you'll own
  • End-to-end payroll integration management: Design and validate integrated payroll solutions — data flows, calculations, compliance controls, and financial alignment — built to scale.
  • Absence management configuration: Own the configuration and maintenance of absence management in Workday, ensuring seamless data exchange between Workday and third-party leave, time-tracking, and benefits platforms.
  • System optimization & configuration: Lead configuration, testing, and validation for complex payroll and absence scenarios. Redesign workflows to improve reliability, speed, and visibility.
  • Senior escalation & issue resolution: Be the last line of defense for complex payroll, absence, and integration issues. Diagnose root causes across systems, protect compliance, and maintain continuity.
  • Mentorship & technical leadership: Grow analysts and technical teammates. Establish design patterns, documentation standards, and governance that outlast any single project.
  • Continuous improvement: Spot opportunities to cut manual effort, improve financial alignment, and bring in emerging technology that creates real organizational value.

What you bring
  • 8–10+ years in HR technology, payroll systems, or enterprise/ERP platforms, including hands-on experience configuring absence management integrations
  • Bachelor's in Information Systems, Computer Science, Accounting/Finance, or a related field — preferred
  • CPP, Workday Pro Payroll, Workday Absence, or equivalent HRIS/platform certification — preferred
  • Hands-on experience with Workday Payroll and Absence modules, including third-party integration configuration — a strong differentiator

What you get
  • Health, dental & vision insurance
  • 401k with company match & profit-sharing
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Continuing education & advancement opportunities
  • Paid holidays & vacation
  • Wellness plan & lifestyle spending account
  • Health club reimbursement
  • Life, AD&D & prepaid legal
