HR Specialist III (Total Rewards Business Partner) – Hybrid | Lake County, IL

The Fountain Group is hiring for a prominent client!

Pay:$36.00 - $42.00/hour
Location: Lake County, IL (Hybrid)
Schedule: Monday & Friday Remote | Tuesday-Thursday Onsite
Duration: Initial 6-month contract with strong potential for extensions up to one year or longer
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours/week (typically 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM CST with flexibility to support a global team)

Are you an Excel expert with a passion for compensation, HR analytics, and data-driven decision making? We're seeking two HR Specialist III (Total Rewards Business Partners) to join a high-performing Total Rewards team supporting compensation programs and HR operations within a dynamic enterprise environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop compensation recommendations for external hires, promotions, and internal transfers while ensuring market competitiveness and internal equity.
  • Analyze compensation and HR data to identify trends, validate accuracy, and provide actionable insights.
  • Conduct audits across HRIS systems to ensure employee compensation data is accurate and compliant.
  • Maintain compensation reports, dashboards, and Total Rewards tools.
  • Partner with Business HR and Talent Acquisition to provide guidance on routine compensation-related inquiries.
  • Support job evaluations, salary benchmarking, and compensation surveys.
  • Assist with annual compensation planning, salary structure updates, and promotion cycles.
  • Participate in market analysis and ad hoc Total Rewards projects.
  • Ensure data integrity through detailed validation and quality control.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Analytics, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience supporting compensation programs, Total Rewards, HR analytics, or related HR functions.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required, including:
    • Pivot Tables
    • Complex formulas
    • VLOOKUP
    • INDEX/MATCH
    • SUMIFS/AVERAGEIFS
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large data sets and identify trends.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with HRIS systems such as Workday or HRSoft.
  • Experience with Power BI or other data visualization/analytics tools.
  • Previous experience supporting enterprise compensation or Total Rewards programs.

Interview Process

  • Panel interview with hiring managers, followed by a possible final interview.
