Reporting to the Chief of Staff, this role is responsible for leading all aspects of Human Resources for Seltzer's Smokehouse Meats. This individual will support employee relations, talent strategy, compliance, and culture while building scalable HR processes that support business growth.
This is a hands-on leadership role that requires both strategic thinking and day-to-day execution.
HR Leadership & Strategy
- Lead HR initiatives that support company growth, culture, and employee engagement
- Partner with leadership to align workforce planning with business objectives
- Develop and implement HR policies, programs, and best practices in compliance with federal, state, and local laws
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Own full-cycle recruiting: workforce planning, sourcing, interviewing, and hiring
- Build and maintain partnerships with schools, trade programs, PA CareerLink, and staffing agencies
- Manage temporary staffing relationships, including scheduling, onboarding, and invoice reconciliation
Onboarding & Employee Experience
- Oversee end-to-end onboarding, including offers, background checks, drug screens, and orientation
- Ensure seamless integration of new hires into teams and company culture
- Manage offboarding processes, including exit interviews and asset recovery
Employee Relations & Performance Management
- Coach and advise managers on employee relations, investigations, and corrective actions
- Lead performance management programs, including evaluations, compensation planning, and skill assessments
- Support a positive, compliant, and high-performance work environment
Compensation, Benefits & Payroll
- Oversee benefits administration, including open enrollment, carrier relationships, COBRA, and compliance
- Evaluate and recommend benefit plan improvements
- Manage payroll processes and HRIS systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency
Compliance, Risk & HR Operations
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, OSHA requirements, and internal policies
- Manage leave programs (FMLA, ADA, workers' compensation) and maintain OSHA logs
- Maintain accurate personnel records and HR metrics (turnover, cost per hire, etc.)
- Audit HRIS and benefits data for accuracy and integrity
Training & Development
- Develop and deliver training programs (harassment prevention, wellness, leadership, etc.)
- Track and manage all employee training in alignment with quality and compliance standards
- Support leadership development and succession planning initiatives
Organizational Development
- Create and maintain job descriptions and compensation benchmarks
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, engagement, and retention
- Stay current on HR trends, technologies, and regulatory updates and apply them to the organization
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience; manufacturing environment strongly preferred
- Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
- HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, SPHR, SHRM-SCP) preferred or willingness to obtain
