Job Summary

The human resources manager is responsible for the day-to-day responsibilities of human resources. He/She will participate in the development, coordination, implementation and administering of HR policies, procedures, and programs which address employment process, employee benefits, employee relations, training, and record management. As a key leader in the human resources division the human resources manager will be charged with promoting the Buchanan values of Determination, Integrity, Safety, and Community in everything they do.

Duties/Responsibilities

Lead and oversee day-to-day HR operations, ensuring consistent, compliant and employee-focused practices across the organization. Supervise, coach and develop the HR team including oversight of leave status, recruiting and reporting. Serve as an advisor to leaders on employee relations, performance management, policy interpretation, corrective action, disciplinary meetings and terminations. Manage or guide investigations and resolution of employee concerns, ensuring timely documentation, confidentiality and appropriate outcomes. Create and support learning and development programs and initiatives that strengthen internal growth, leadership readiness and employee engagement. Identify and implement HR process and technology improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy and employee experience. Track HR trends and key metrics and provide insights and recommendations to leadership. Other duties as assigned.

Ability to handle confidential information with great sensitivity. In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices. Ability to build relationships with and relate to employees at all levels. Knowledge of Human Resources Information Systems: Paycor preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience

Minimum 7 years' experience in Human Resources; experience in trucking or logistics preferred. Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Human Resources or related field required.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
