Human Resources Manager – Industrial Operations

Position Overview

Title: Human Resources Manager
Department: Human Resources
Reports To: Finance or Operations Leadership

Role Summary

The Human Resources Manager plays a key role in overseeing and executing all HR-related functions within an industrial or production-based environment. This role is highly hands-on and supports day-to-day operations by managing talent acquisition, employee engagement, compliance, training, and workforce planning.

Working closely with site leadership, this individual helps foster a positive, compliant, and high-performing workplace while aligning HR initiatives with overall business objectives and continuous improvement efforts.


Key Responsibilities

Recruiting & Workforce Management

  • Lead full-cycle hiring efforts for both hourly and salaried positions, including production, technical, and administrative roles
  • Coordinate new employee onboarding, orientation, and integration into the organization
  • Build and maintain relationships with external talent pipelines such as trade schools, community organizations, and workforce programs
  • Support retention strategies and long-term workforce planning initiatives

Employee Relations & Labor Support

  • Provide guidance to leadership and employees on workplace concerns, performance management, and policy interpretation
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and respect
  • Support union-related activities where applicable, including contract interpretation, grievance resolution, and disciplinary procedures

Regulatory Compliance & HR Administration

  • Ensure adherence to applicable employment laws and regulations at the federal, state, and local levels (e.g., wage/hour laws, leave policies, workplace safety standards)
  • Maintain accurate personnel records and documentation
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce company policies and employee handbook guidelines
  • Assist with audits, reporting, and compliance reviews

Compensation, Benefits & Payroll Coordination

  • Administer benefits programs and support annual enrollment processes
  • Assist with compensation planning, wage reviews, and salary recommendations
  • Oversee payroll processing and ensure accuracy of employee pay records
  • Monitor attendance, leave tracking, and related programs such as unemployment claims

Training & Organizational Development

  • Coordinate training programs related to safety, leadership development, compliance, and job-specific skills
  • Support employee growth initiatives and continuous improvement programs
  • Maintain training records, certifications, and development plans

Safety & Operations Support

  • Partner with leadership to support workplace safety initiatives and regulatory compliance
  • Participate in safety meetings, incident reviews, and corrective action planning
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, efficient, and organized production environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of five years of progressive HR experience, ideally within a manufacturing, distribution, or industrial setting
  • Strong working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
  • Experience supporting non-exempt/hourly employees and frontline leadership
  • Familiarity with HR information systems, payroll platforms, and standard office software
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM or HRCI) is a plus
