Overview
We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support the day-to-day operations of a fast-paced Human Resources department. This role will focus on employee relations, recruiting, benefits administration, compliance, onboarding/offboarding, and HR process support. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the Human Resources department.
- Recruit, interview, and support the hiring process for open positions in partnership with hiring managers.
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.
- Support HR programs related to compensation, benefits, employee relations, performance management, and training.
- Coordinate onboarding and offboarding processes, including new hire orientation and exit procedures.
- Conduct background checks and employment eligibility verifications.
- Maintain employee records, personnel files, and HR databases with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Monitor compliance with required training, certifications, and internal policies.
- Process payroll-related functions and assist with HR reporting.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, and FLSA.
- Support disciplinary actions, investigations, and employee relations matters.
- Manage workers’ compensation, short-term disability, and long-term disability processes.
- Handle wage garnishments, liens, and court-ordered wage assignments.
- Coordinate employee separations, including COBRA notifications and exit interviews.
- Prepare reports and assist with HR audits, compliance reviews, and special projects.
- Stay current on HR trends, best practices, and regulatory changes.
Requirements
- 5+ years of Human Resources experience in a Generalist or similar role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Strong knowledge of employee relations, talent acquisition, HRIS systems, and employment law compliance.
- Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, FLSA, workers’ compensation, and leave administration.
- Experience supporting payroll and benefits administration.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR systems/software.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the facility as needed.
