HR in construction isn't your typical 9-5 people ops job. One morning you'll be sourcing candidates for a field position, the next you're explaining benefits to an employee or planning the company cookout. If you like variety, take pride in getting things right, and want to actually see the impact of your work, we want to talk.
WHO WE ARE.
McGill Restoration is an Omaha-based leader in concrete and masonry repair, restoration, and construction. We've been in the business long enough to know that our people are what sets us apart and we're looking for someone who believes that too. This role reports directly to the Vice President, Human Resources & Administration and has real room to grow as you learn out business and earn your footing.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING.
- Owning the recruiting process -- from job posts to getting great people through the door and on to the team (Right People/Right Seat)
- Being the go-to person for employee HR questions and knowing when to handle it vs. when to escalate
- Coordinating training programs and keeping certifications tracked and current
- Managing workers' compensation claims and keeping the return-to-work process on track
- Organizing and leading the H2B visa worker process including starting off the paperwork through arrival and departure
- Keeping our HRIS (UKG) running well and finding ways to make it work better for us
- Helping plan the events and recognition programs that make McGill a place people want to stay
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR.
- Friendly and welcoming employee who loves our employees and always has a smile on their face
- At least 2 years of experience. We're open to where you are in your career as long as you're hungry to keep growing
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a significant plus -- a lot of our team communicates in Spanish, and it makes a big difference
- Solid HR fundamentals with the flexibility to learn how we do things at McGill
- Communicator who's equally comfortable talking with all levels of the company
- Detail-oriented and organized -- in construction, the details matter
- Someone who takes ownership, asks the questions, and knows the difference between making a call and needing a second opinion
- Construction or trades experience is a bonus, but the right attitude matters more
If any of this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you!
