Job Summary

The HR Generalist will join City's Memphis HR team as a pivotal partner to our employees. This individual provides onsite support as the employee point of contact for any HR related circumstances and assistance needed. While the role does sit onsite in Memphis, the HR Generalist will partner with facilities across City's network to create and uphold standardized HR practices across all sites.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitors leaves of absences including FMLA along with S&A and other disability payments
  • Supports employees with payroll, benefit questions, or other related employment questions
  • Conducts investigations as needed and works with the HR Manager to ensure appropriate next steps are taken
  • Understands and applies basic HR laws and regulations
  • Assists outside vendor(s) with audits/testing, including but not limited to: payroll, 401(k), workers compensation, EEO-1
  • Tracks employee attendance and assists with any appropriate follow up actions
  • Assists in processing bi-weekly payroll for all employees, including: base pay, bonuses, retro wages, vacation/sick pay-outs
  • Processes employee status change requests
  • Assists with practices related to recruiting, hiring and onboarding
  • Completes employment verification requests
  • Handles unemployment claims
  • Participates in sitewide policy creation and implementation
  • Monitors and provides consistent and fair application of rules and policies
  • Provides training and coaching related to HR policies and procedures to employees as needed
  • Fosters employee/company and company/community relationships
  • Assist in labor tracking
  • Supports benefits administration related to health, dental, life, disability, ancillary benefits, COBRA, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 3 years of Human Resource related experience
  • 3 years of payroll and benefits experience, preferred
  • Working knowledge of state and federal employment law and regulations
  • Experience administering health and welfare benefits and handling day-to-day employee relations issues
  • Experience working with worker's compensation, FMLA, COBRA, and HIPAA programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency with HRIS data entry and analysis required; ADP HRIS experience, preferred
  • Effective analytical, problem solving, administrative and organizational skills
