Client Overview:
Our client, a higher education institution, is expanding its Human Resources team and looking to bring on an HR Generalist (Compensation). The organization operates in a collaborative, fast-growing environment and values equity, transparency, and employee engagement.

Salary/Hourly Rate:
$35/hr - $40/hr
$80k - $90k once permanent

Position Overview:
The organization is seeking an experienced HR Generalist with a strong background in compensation to support its growing HR function. This role will play a key part in compensation analytics, salary benchmarking, and job architecture while partnering closely with hiring managers on workforce planning and retention initiatives. The position begins as a temporary assignment with the potential to convert to permanent and is based in the Bronx with a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities of the HR Generalist (Compensation):
  • Support compensation initiatives, including salary reviews, benchmarking, and market analysis.
  • Develop and update job descriptions in collaboration with Hiring Managers.
  • Assist with compensation-related projects and reporting.
  • Partner with leadership on hiring, retention, and workforce planning strategies.
  • Provide general HR operational support across multiple functions.
  • Utilize HR systems and tools to maintain accurate compensation and employee data.
  • Support compliance efforts, including considerations for multi-state employment.
Required Experience/Skills for the HR Generalist (Compensation):
  • 2 - 3+ years of HR Generalist experience.
  • Hands-on experience supporting compensation projects or initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of HR operations and best practices.
  • Proficiency with HRIS and compensation tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the HR Generalist (Compensation):
  • Experience working in a nonprofit organization.
  • Experience using Canva or other creative/design tools.
  • Working knowledge of California employment laws.
  • Experience with HR analytics and reporting.
  • Exposure to Personalist or similar HR systems.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is required.
